How should my band and I prepare for recording?

1. First and foremost, please know your material. You should know your songs inside and out. You are not here to write songs or figure out your parts, thats what pre-production is for.

2. All instruments used for recording should be in good condition. If you bring in gear or equipment that is in rough shape don't be surprised if I make you use one of the studio guitars or basses. The #1 rule of recording is to get it right at the source. If you give me a inadequate take on a garbage instrument, the final product will suffer.

3. Make sure all guitars and basses have new strings and are properly intonated before being used to record.

4. Make sure all drums have new heads and have been properly tuned. I, or my studio drummer, will tune drums at the studio prior to recording but if you put fresh heads on and get them tuned beforehand this will make this process go much faster. If your cymbals are in rough shape, either borrow or buy new ones.

5. You will be expected to record to a click track. If you cannot play to a metronome, practice until you can, then book studio time.

6. All Vocalists need to come prepared. Know your lyrics and timing. Expect all vocal takes to be doubled. STAY HYDRATED! Drink lots of water but stay away from ice water. Refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking, having any coffee with creamer or any milk products the night before and day of any sessions.

Do you record live drums and Amps?

Yes, I record live drums and amps but also offer the ability to do Midi or VST instruments. I have an extensive drum sample library as well as several quality VST plugins.

Can I Track Myself And Just Hire You to mix or master?

Absolutely, I have worked with several bands from out of state who send me their tracks for mixing and mastering. I can be a part of any step in the process, from only tracking, to only mixing, or only mastering. Please contact me before hand so we can discuss how to properly track your music so I can get the best files possible from you.
